My fiance liked the simple style of this Triton tungsten ring since it’s scratch resistant.

We had it picked out for a while now but finally got the opportunity to purchase today!

One Month to Go! April 8, 2010

Filed under: Our Wedding Details,Random — Simple. Chic Southern @ 9:51 pm

The month of nerves, fears and waking up in cold sweats? Not about the groom… no worries there! It’s funny when you tell people you’re nervous they automatically think it’s about having cold feet. Not for me. It’s about getting to the Big Day, although walking down the aisle and having everyone stare at me does make me nervous, but I think I’ll be able to manage that.

For me it’s keeping up with the planning, staying on top of things and keeping the stress level to a minimum. We have been getting a lot accomplished but there’s still a lot more to do. It’s such an overwhelming feeling especially when you’re planning from a distance. I would love to have the ability to take the month off and just go finish everything in NC so we can just relax the week of the wedding. Unfortunately, I can’t afford to do that but I think we’ll have most everything under control (i hope, gulp).

My family can tell me a million times how “nothing is perfect” and “don’t worry about making it perfect,” but I don’t work like that. I am going to do my best at making everything perfect! And yes, I’m going to have to understand that there are going to be glitches but I want to do everything possible to avoid them. The important thing is that one month from today, I will be married to the most amazing man ever, and that is all that matters.

The next few blogs are going to be about what we’ve been up to and what we’ve been able to accomplish in the past month. Stay tuned!

My fiance and I have been living in this old home built in 1926 (kind of the standard in Pittsburgh) but there is a mold problem. The landlord let us out of our lease and hasn’t really fixed the problem so we have been looking for a place to live since January. For the last month and a half, I’ve been searching for places to live while also planning a wedding. I know some brides and grooms go through this with finding a new house to move into after the wedding and starting a life together. Geoff and I have been living together for a few years and didn’t really plan for this to happen months away from our wedding date. Luckily this past weekend we found a nice apt complex to move into (mold free!) and we’re moving this Saturday.

Meanwhile, I’ve been working on such details like the wedding invitations which I ordered on Saturday. I so wanted to create my own so that they would have sentimental value and I enjoy that type of thing; however, I ran out of time on making my own invitations. So I ordered wedding invitations from wedding paper divas which has proven cost effective and efficient. Just what this bride needs!! It was a design I had picked out initially when I began looking at invitations shortly after we got engaged. I do plan on making the wedding programs myself though! I will reveal the invitations once they’ve gone out in the mail in a few weeks.

Last Monday we got the men’s attire taken care of. The groomsmen are getting fitted within the next few weeks. I really wanted the men to wear a suit instead of a tux. The groom however did not and also it’s much easier and less expensive to rent the tux. I do want to pick out a tie for the men that will work with our colors.

I’ve also been working on finalizing details with the caterer, florist and rental co. It is so satisfying when you can check items off your list!

I am in awe of how fast the months are going by as we approach the big day. This weekend I feel like I’m getting some things accomplished so I apologize for not blogging as much lately. February and March are critical months for us since I want it to be smooth sailing for April. Doubtful but I can hope, right?

We are going to be doing the bridal shower, lingerie/bachelorette party all in one day during March. My mother is mailing out the invitations for the bridal shower this week!  I ordered the invitations from Papyrus. Here’s what they look like:

3 Months to go… February 8, 2010

Minna Designs

With just 3 months to go, it is about time to get our invitations out! I am hoping to get these out within the next month. I can’t wait to show off the final product once they’re complete and in the mail. It will be a few weeks though!

Theknot.com recommends couples to think about favors also. While I’m not ready to reveal our favors yet, here’s a creative garden wedding favor that a couple from La Jolla, California did for their guests. These mini planted herbs (thyme, oregano, basil) let guests take home a functional gift to remember.

I have been busy this weekend with wedding planning, and really no time to blog. This is why I keep some inspirational stuff in my Drafts to share when I haven’t blogged for a few days. So here ya go!

Since my aunt is baking our cupcakes and most of our dessert table, I thought about buying her some stuff from this site.
